I live in a small apartment in a bustling area of Oakland, CA with my husband and our young son. Despite our tiny yard and busy urban lifestyle we keep a small organic garden, we can and jam seasonal produce, we support local farms and farmer's markets, we compost, reuse, recycle, and generally try to tread lightly. When we finally own our home, I hope to have chickens, bees, a big shaggy dog, and a couple of cats.
I shop at thrift stores, consignment shops, vintage boutiques, and flea markets like any good treasure-seeker. As a result, I take great pleasure in amassing collections of up-cycled fabrics, recycled papers, and beloved found objects. My attempts are far from perfect, but I do my best to maintain an environmentally-friendly art studio and an urban homestead lifestyle. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and my Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry. On a good day, my creative work is a reflection of these two areas of study: sustainability meets creativity and creative lifestyle.
In keeping with these attempts at sustainable living, here's a list of some green spaces online:
